<reviewbody>Marked for Murder was one of the eight films Tex Ritter made in the Texas Ranger series. It was made in 1945, not 1948 as is shown. Your print was edited for television as is shown in the first scene. Dave O'Brien, who had played Captain Midnight in a Columbia serial, appeared as Dave Wyatt. He was also billed as Dave "Tex"Obrien. He later became a gag writer for Red Skelton's TV show. Tex Ritter had come over from Columbia after his series with Bill Elliott was dropped. These would be the last B westerns he would make, before concentrating on his recording career. Although he later admitted that this was a unwise career move, it was these films, along with his Columbia and Mongram films. which garnered him a new group of fans who saw him on television. Guy Wilkerson, "Panhandle Perkins" played similar rustic roles in B features of the Forties. PRC (Producers Releasing Corporation) released scores of B westerns for third run theaters in the Forties including the Cinecolor westerns of Eddie Dean and the Lash LaRue series. They were edited into 16mm editions and became staples in every B western collector's library</reviewbody>
